The Kitchen Report: October 19th
Hello, Pickleball Family!
Welcome back to another edition of The Kitchen Report, where the paddles are swinging, the balls are flying, and somehow it’s ALWAYS your partner’s fault!
Niko wanted me to let everyone know that he’s been working on his pickleball game. Unfortunately, his idea of a third-shot drop involves knocking something off the kitchen counter, and his idea of court coverage is stretching out across the entire kitchen floor. He’s also convinced that if you can’t win the point, you should at least get a treat for trying!
I’ve tried explaining that pickleball doesn’t work that way, but he reminded me that he’s a published author now and doesn’t take criticism from management!
Anyway, enough about my furry little diva. We’ve got another action-packed week ahead, so grab your calendars, your paddles, and maybe a little Advil. Here’s what’s cooking in the kitchen this week!
MONDAY – PADDLE PARTY IS BACK!
6:00 PM – Monday Night Paddle Party
Monday nights are back in action! Come out, have some fun, get some games in, and start your week off right!
Remember, it’s called a Paddle Party, not a Paddle Argument. Save the drama for reality TV!
TUESDAY – ROUND ROBINS & NIGHT DRILLS!
Morning Recreational Round Robin
Sign-In: 8:20 AM – 8:50 AM
Game Time: 9:00 AM SHARP!
Tuesday Night Drills – Upper Courts
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Our Tuesday Night Drills are taking over the upper courts for an hour of learning, improving, and discovering that your paddle actually CAN hit the ball where you want it to go!
IMPORTANT: PLEASE BE ON TIME!
Late arrivals throw off the rotations, and nobody wants to stop everything because someone decided to make a grand entrance at 5:15!
We’re running drills, not an airport. There are no delayed departures!
TUESDAY – 11:15 AM – DRILLS WITH DAN RUSSELL!
Don’t forget to sign up for Dan Russell’s 4-on-1 Small Group Drills every Tuesday at 11:15 AM!
Only FOUR players per session, so you MUST sign up on our website at www.poloclubpickleball.com to reserve your spot!
Sessions alternate weekly between 2.5 and 3.0 players, so make sure you’re signing up for the correct skill level.
This is your chance to sharpen your skills, improve your shots, and get some great personalized coaching from Dan!
And remember… Dan can teach you how to hit the perfect shot, but he can’t explain why you keep hitting it into the net!
Four players, one coach, and absolutely nowhere to hide your bad habits!
WEDNESDAY – ROUND ROBINS & INTRO TO PICKLEBALL!
Intermediate/Advanced Round Robin
Sign-In: 8:20 AM – 8:50 AM
Game Time: 9:00 AM SHARP!
Bring your A-game, your competitive spirit, and your best line calls. Remember, just because you REALLY wanted that ball to be in doesn’t mean it was!
Intro to Pickleball
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
New to pickleball? Come learn the basics, meet some great people, and discover why the rest of us have completely rearranged our lives around a plastic ball with holes in it!
THURSDAY – BEGINNERS BY DAY, WARRIORS BY NIGHT!
Intro to Pickleball
Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Another opportunity for our newer players to learn the game and join the madness!
Thursday Night Competitive Play – Upper Courts
Starts: 5:30 PM
Lights Out: 9:00 PM
Calling all higher-level competitive MEN AND WOMEN!
This is NOT a social hour, and nobody’s handing out sympathy points! If you dare step onto these courts, bring your A-game because NOBODY IS GOING EASY ON YOU!
And one little reminder… the lights go OFF at 9:00 PM!
That means STOP PLAYING! If you’re still chasing a ball when the lights go out, congratulations, you’ve just invented a whole new sport: BLIND PICKLEBALL!
FRIDAY & SUNDAY – PICKLEBALL LITE!
Upper Courts | 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Looking for something a little more relaxed? Pickleball Lite is your ticket!
Come enjoy some fun games, good company, and a little less pressure.
And remember, it’s called Pickleball LITE, not Pickleball FIGHT!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS – MONDAY, OCTOBER 19TH!
We’ve got THREE important sign-ups opening at 10:00 AM SHARP! ALL sign-ups are on the website! http://www.poloclubpickleball.com/
1. TRILOGY POLO VS. TRILOGY NIPOMO!
Event Date: Sunday, November 8th
Game Time: 11:00 AM
Sign-Ups Open: Monday, October 19th at 10:00 AM | Space will be limited to 16-20 players.
Our friends from Trilogy Nipomo are coming to town, and we’re ready for some friendly competition!

2. NOVEMBER 3RD TRANSITION MEETING – SIGN UP!
Meeting Date: Tuesday, November 3rd at 5:00 PM
Sign-Ups Open: Monday, October 19th at 10:00 AM
We’re getting ready for our annual Transition Meeting, and YES… WE’RE FEEDING YOU AFTERWARD!
But here’s the deal: YOU MUST SIGN UP! We need an accurate headcount so we know how much food to order.
We love you all, but we’re not performing the miracle of feeding 300 people with five loaves and two fish!
Guests are welcome! There will be a $20 cover charge per guest, payable at the door.
Come for the meeting, stay for the food, and enjoy another great evening with your pickleball family!
3. INTERCLUB PLAY WITH CITRUS!
● Event Date: Saturday, November 7th
● Game Time: 2:00 PM
● Sign-Ups Open: Monday, October 19th at 10:00 AM
● Players Needed: 16 total — 8 men and 8 women
Unfortunately for us, this is a 3.0 event, so please sign up early! We’re looking for 16 players total: 8 men and 8 women.
Don’t wait too long to sign up. These spots may disappear faster than a pickleball after a bad line call!
ONE LAST THING FROM YOUR PRESIDENT…
We’ve got a fantastic season underway, and there’s something happening almost every day of the week!
Whether you’re a beginner learning which end of the paddle to hold or a competitive player who thinks every game is the championship finals, there’s a place for you on our courts!
Let’s keep the games fun, the attitudes positive, and the questionable line calls to a minimum!
And remember… it’s only a game, people! A very addictive, occasionally frustrating, friendship-testing game!
See you on the courts!
