The Kitchen Report: 11/2

THE KITCHEN REPORT

Week of November 2, 2026

Hello, Pickleball Family, and welcome back to this week’s Kitchen Report!

First things first, a HUGE congratulations to the Golden State Valkyries on their WNBA Championship victory Saturday!

Now, I have to tell you, Niko was glued to the television. All 30 pounds of him were watching every play like he was the head coach. He was pacing, getting anxious, and at one point I thought he was going to call a timeout!

Now that the excitement is over, Niko has decided we should bring basketball to the pickleball courts. Apparently, he thinks adding a hoop to the kitchen is a brilliant idea.

I’ve explained to him that we already have enough people who can’t stay out of the kitchen. We don’t need anyone dunking in it!

Moving on from that furry monster…

HERE’S WHAT’S ON TAP THIS WEEK!

ANNUAL PICKLEBALL CLUB MEETING – TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD!

It’s that time of year again! Our annual meeting will be held in the Two Palms Rooms.

  • Registration opens: 4:15 PM

  • Meeting starts: 5:00 PM SHARP!

  • Food sign-up deadline: Monday at NOON!

If you haven’t signed up to eat, there’s still time! But don’t wait until 12:01 on Monday and expect me to pull a plate of food out of my pickleball bag!

SHOW ME THE MONEY! CLUB DUES ARE DUE!

Annual membership dues are $40, and we’d love for everyone to pay ahead of time to help registration run smoothly.

You can pay by Zelle at poloclubpickleball@gmail.com, or by cash or check at the registration desk.

When you arrive, EVERYONE needs to check in at the registration desk, pick up a number, and then head to the back of the room.

And here’s a little incentive: If you’ve paid your dues, there’s a gift waiting for you!

See? Membership has its privileges! And no, Niko did not pick out the gifts. Otherwise, everyone would be going home with a bag of cat treats.

NOW FOR A LITTLE PRESIDENTIAL HOUSEKEEPING!

This next part is important, so I’m going to put my serious president hat on for a minute. Don’t worry, it won’t last long.

IF YOU SIGN UP FOR AN EVENT, PLEASE COMMIT TO PLAYING!

I cannot stress this enough.

We have an incredible group of volunteers who spend HOURS behind the scenes organizing our events, coordinating players, creating schedules, balancing skill levels, and making sure everything runs smoothly.

Running a club this size is no small task. Trust me, there are days when I think Niko has the better job. He sleeps 18 hours a day and still gets treated like royalty!

We absolutely understand that life happens. Emergencies come up, people get sick, and sometimes plans genuinely have to change.

But before you sign up, PLEASE check your calendar and make sure you’re available.

And here’s a little secret: When you sign up on our website, there’s a button that allows you to add the event directly to your calendar.

HIT THAT BUTTON!

It’s there for a reason, folks! Not just to make the website look pretty.

When someone cancels at the last minute, it doesn’t just affect one person. It affects partners, opponents, waitlisted players, and the volunteers who worked hard to put everything together.

Your commitment matters. Our volunteers’ time matters. And your fellow players are counting on you.

Let’s all do our part to make their jobs a little easier. They deserve it!

Okay, serious president hat is officially OFF!

IT’S NOVEMBER! WELCOME BACK, EVERYONE!

By now, most of our snowbirds have landed, paddles have been dusted off, and the courts are buzzing again!

If you haven’t already, head over to our website:

www.poloclubpickleball.com

Save it to the home screen of your phone, tablet, or computer!

Everything you need to know about our club is right there. Event schedules, sign-ups, announcements, and all the pickleball excitement you can handle.

And before anyone asks me what time something starts, CHECK THE WEBSITE!

I love you all, but I promise the website knows just as much as I do, and it doesn’t need coffee before answering questions!

INTERCLUB WEEKEND – LET’S SHOW SOME POLO CLUB SPIRIT!

We’ve got a BIG weekend coming up, and I want to see our members out there supporting our players!

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH – CITRUS COMES TO TOWN!

Game time is 2:00 PM.

Come cheer on our Polo Club players as they take on Citrus in some friendly competition!

And by friendly, I mean we’re going to smile, shake hands, and then do our very best to win!

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH – NIPOMO MEET & GREET!

At 4:00 PM, we’ll be hosting a Meet & Greet at the clubhouse to welcome our friends from Trilogy Nipomo!

Come say hello, introduce yourself, make some new pickleball friends, and help us roll out the Polo Club welcome mat!

Just a friendly reminder: Everyone is responsible for their own tab! That’s right, folks, we’re providing the hospitality, not your bar bill!

This is your chance to get to know our visitors before Sunday’s matches. Who knows? You might even make a new friend before you spend Sunday trying to beat them on the court!

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH – TRILOGY NIPOMO!

We’re kicking things off with a Pancake Breakfast at 10:00 AM, followed by our interclub matches against Trilogy Nipomo at 11:00 AM.

Come out, enjoy some pancakes, cheer on our players, and help us give our Nipomo friends a warm Polo Club welcome!

And remember, cheering is encouraged. Coaching from the sidelines? Well, let’s leave that to the people actually holding the paddles!

These interclub matches are a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, enjoy some great pickleball, and show our visitors what makes The Polo Club so special.

Let’s pack those sidelines and support our teams!

AND THAT’S A WRAP!

That should do it for this week’s Kitchen Report!

If I’ve forgotten anything, don’t panic. You know me. There will probably be another email coming your way!

Thank you to all our incredible volunteers, committee members, and players who make this club what it is. We couldn’t do it without you!

Let’s have a fantastic week, enjoy our annual meeting, support our interclub players, and keep those paddles swinging!

And as for Niko, he’s currently searching online for a basketball jersey in size XXXXL. Apparently, he thinks the Valkyries need a mascot.

Play hard, be nice! Niko and I are out!
