The Kitchen Report: March 16th
Hello Pickleball Family,
Alright folks… let’s jump into this week’s Kitchen Report.
Grab your coffee, maybe a bagel, kick off your flip-flops, and settle in. This week had a little bit of everything — great pickleball, a little confusion, some excellent competition, and at least a few moments where people stood on the court thinking:
“Wait… what just happened?”
As always, we had plenty of laughs, some impressive rallies, and a few balls that may or may not still be rolling somewhere across the courts.
So buckle up… because this week’s Kitchen Report is officially underway.

Charity Tournament — March 21st and 22nd here at Trilogy.
If you haven’t signed up yet… unfortunately registration is closed.
Yes, I know… I heard the gasps, the tears, and the classic message:
“Wait Wendy… I was just about to sign up!”
But don’t worry — it’s not too late to come out, cheer everyone on, and enjoy the show. There will be great pickleball, a little drama, and at least a few players halfway through a rally wondering why they signed up in the first place.
Now we do have a few small requests to help make the weekend run smoothly.
First, if anyone has a pop-up tent we can borrow for Saturday and Sunday, we would greatly appreciate it. The desert sun has a funny way of reminding us who’s actually in charge out here.
If you do bring a tent, please put your name and phone number on one of the poles so we know who it belongs to. Otherwise by Sunday afternoon we’ll be dealing with The Great Trilogy Tent Mystery, where everyone is standing around saying:
“Is this my tent?”
“No, I thought it was yours.”
“Wait… whose tent is this?”
And suddenly we’re running a Lost & Found for shade structures.
We’re also looking for a few Heat Safety Volunteers — basically our version of pickleball lifeguards. Your job will be to walk around, keep an eye on players, and make sure nobody is turning the color of a ripe tomato or forgetting that hydration is actually important.
If someone looks a little wobbly, dizzy, or like they’re about to have a serious conversation with the pavement… you’re the hero who steps in and says,
“Alright champ, time for some water and shade.”
We are also in need of a few coolers so we can keep water and drinks nice and cold. Because warm water in the desert is basically just very disappointing soup.
By now I’m sure Duane Winchester has reached out to all of our amazing volunteers who have stepped up to help over those two days. We truly appreciate each and every one of you. These events simply don’t happen without volunteers, and we are incredibly grateful for the time and energy you’re giving to support such a great cause.
Now… one more small favor from the club.
We could use a few strong backs, willing hands, and people who don’t mind a little organized chaos on Friday from 9:00 AM to around noon-ish to help with:
• Tent setup
• Table setup
• Banner hanging
• Tennis court lining
Basically, we’ll be turning the courts into Tournament Central, and the more helpers we have, the faster it goes. Think of it as pickleball CrossFit with a purpose.
Then on Sunday starting at 4:00 PM, we get to do the reverse magic trick.
Everything we set up on Friday… will mysteriously disappear.
We’ll be breaking down:
• Tents
• Tables
• Banners
• Tennis court lines
If you loaned us a tent or cooler, Sunday at 4:00 PM is also the time to come pick them up. Otherwise we’ll be standing around staring at a pile of gear asking:
“Is this your cooler?”
“No… mine was blue.”
“Well whose tent is this one??”
So if you have an hour, a couple of hours, or just feel like earning extra pickleball karma, come lend a hand. The more people we have, the quicker it gets done… and the sooner we can all go home and remind our backs why we usually just play pickleball instead of moving equipment.
It’s going to be a fantastic weekend of pickleball, community, and doing something meaningful together.
So come on out, cheer loud, bring your sunscreen… and if you have a tent, cooler, or a few spare muscles, you may officially become our new favorite person.
If you can help with any of our needs for the Charity tournament, please reply to this email!
Niko and I are out!
